Welcome to my culinary journey! I'm Ashton, and my love for cooking and eating has deep roots in the vibrant flavors of South Louisiana. Some of my earliest memories gathering for meals include crabbing in the surf of Grand Isle for a big seafood dinner, pulling fresh honeysuckle off the vine to flavor drinks, and having at least two versions of gumbo on the stove for every special occasion.
Moving to Mississippi opened my eyes to the importance of those flavors, inciting my passion to recreate beloved dishes and explore new ways to make them. When certain foods I was accustomed to eating regularly weren't available, I quickly learned how to make them. And I enjoyed it - alot! Luckily Mississippi has some of the best food I've had in the south (hello Blue Plates) and I was surrounded by amazing restaurants, local farm sourced ingredients, and the fire to keep learning and cooking.
My true journey in the kitchen started when my husband and I opened our waterfowl outfitting business in Canada and Arkansas. From there I would spend the Fall and Winter months feeding groups of hungry duck hunters and sourcing the best local ingredients from farmers. This is where my passion really took off and I realized how much I cared about providing good meals for people. I became so particular with my ingredients that I would haul local smoked sausage, speciality seasonings and southern staples like grits all the way up North to our lodge in Canada.
Offering our hunters a taste of their game quickly became my favorite way to bring their hunt from the field to the table. This experience honors both the excitement of the hunt and the rich flavors of the wild. There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal that connects the journey from nature to the dining table!
Outside the lodge, my passion extends to bringing people together through good food. I want to share everything I've learned and continue to learn in my journey to make you have a memorable meal or event. I am excited to share the knowledge and techniques I've gained, whether you're planning a family gathering or hosting friends, I offer meals that will help you create lasting memories around the table.
